Mental Health Millages
Voters in Jackson and Hillsdale Counties approved mental health millages to expand access to care and support services for individuals who may not have adequate coverage. These locally generated funds are used to fill gaps in the system and strengthen community-based mental health services. Each county’s millage page also includes funding details and annual reports for full transparency.

LifeWays remains committed to ensuring that residents of Hillsdale County continue to have access to needed mental health services in a safe and appropriate environment. While the bond request has been withdrawn, our commitment to the community has not changed. At this time, LifeWays is reviewing all available alternatives and evaluating next steps related to long-term facility planning in Hillsdale County. That includes assessing potential funding approaches and operational considerations that would allow us to continue serving the community effectively and without interruption.
The delay and uncertainty surrounding this process have reinforced the importance of identifying a path forward that provides long-term stability and allows LifeWays to focus fully on its mission and the individuals and families it serves.
Throughout this process, LifeWays considered a wide range of operational, financial, and community factors related to the long-term stability, viability, and delivery of services in Hillsdale County. Community feedback has always been an important part of that process.
Moving forward, we want residents and county officials to know that LifeWays remains committed to Hillsdale County and will continue working toward solutions that support access to care while being responsive to community needs.
