Everything you need to know about TELEHEALTH.
What is Telehealth?
Telehealth uses phones, computers, or tablets to connect people with doctors or other health workers. LifeWays uses a program called Microsoft Teams for video calls. Other audio/video options may be available.
You’ll need to provide an email address and have access to the internet. LifeWays will help you find what works best and guide you from there.
-
You’ll have most visits in-person, but we offer telehealth when it benefits you medically.
With telehealth, you can do therapy, psychiatry, case management, support coordination, and crisis services.
-
Telehealth works when:
You can meet your person-centered planning goals this way.
You can use technology well enough to join the visit.
You can consent to telehealth for each visit.
You will need to meet in-person with us twice a year. Services may take place in the office or at home, based on your needs.
-
At your appointment time, we will reach you using the method you agreed upon. We’ll be able to see and hear each other. We will talk to you and ask questions the same as if you were in-person.
If the connection fails, we will reconnect by telehealth or call you.
-
Telehealth follows the same privacy rules as in-person visits.
We release information only with your permission or when required by law.
We give you our privacy notice, which explains these exceptions. We do not record telehealth sessions.
-
Here are some tips:
If using your phone, make sure you have enough minutes and have reception.
Log in to Microsoft Teams or another video app 10-minutes before your appointment.
Choose a private, quiet place where you can talk without pauses and speak freely.
Dress like you would if you were coming into the office for the appointment.
If you have a question or need help during your session, just ask!
-
Like an in-person visit, you may bring a partner, family member, or friend if you choose.
You may request an interpreter.
